Kharladin Pasha Guardian of Medina! |
Surely you are hearing this name for the first time. This was the brave general of the Ottoman Caliphate who fought alone against the Arab rebels and Britain and its allied forces for 72 days .And later, the British, inspired by his bravery and courage,
He was a brave general of the Ottoman Caliphate but what highlighted his personality was his relationship and love for the Holy Prophet.
During World War I, Britain was being defeated almost everywhere by the Ottoman Empire, so it came up with a plan. He allied himself with Sharif Mecca Hussein bin Ali, the governor of the Hijaz, in the lure of making him the caliph of the Muslims at the end of the war. Sharif Mecca rebelled against the Ottoman Caliphate and captured Mecca and Jeddah.
Then he moved towards Madinah. He was accompanied by British and French troops and a notorious spy named Lawrence of Arabia. They laid siege to Medina in 1916. The siege lasted until 1919 as they faced stiff resistance from the Ottoman Mujahideen here.
At that time, the defense of the city of Medina was under the supervision of an Ottoman general, Fakhri Pasha, or Umar Fakhruddin Pasha. This man was extremely brave and a believer. The people of Madinah loved him for his bravery and good management. The treachery of the Arabs dealt a severe blow to the Ottomans, and Britain and its allies were increasingly occupying Ottoman territories. Following the surrender of the Ottoman ally Bulgaria, Germany also surrendered, and so the Ottoman Empire eventually surrendered to Britain and its allies. At that time Sharif of Makkah and his sons Ali, Faisal and Abdullah were of the opinion that now Fakhruddin would also surrender and Medina would fall to him but Fakhruddin did not surrender and kept fighting. The train carrying supplies to the city of Madinah had been disrupted by the British and similarly no aid was reaching Fakhruddin from outside.
During the siege, Medina was attacked 130 times and on April 30, 1918, 300 bombs were dropped on the holy land of Medina. Food was gone and Fakhruddin and his army continued to eat locusts. But he was not surrendering because he had been ordered by the Holy Prophet in a dream not to surrender. A Turkish writer writes: "Once, on a Friday in 1918, Fakhruddin Pasha started climbing the steps of the pulpit to deliver a sermon during the prayers in the Prophet's Mosque.

"Muslims! I appeal to you to wage jihad in the name of the Holy Prophet, who is also my witness at this time. I command you to use the power of the enemy." Defend him and his city till the last bullet. May Allah be our supporter and helper and may the blessings of the Holy Prophet be with us. Brave officers of the Turkish army! Promise that we will protect our faith by laying down our lives. " Then Fakhri Pasha said that he had been ordered by the Holy Prophet in a dream not to surrender yet. In August 1918, when he received a message from the Sharif of Makkah asking him to surrender, he replied in these words:
From Fakhri Pasha, the commander of the Ottoman forces and the protector of the holiest city of Madinah and the humble servant of the Holy Prophet. In the name of Allah, who is everywhere. He broke the power, caused bloodshed among the Muslims and threatened the caliphate of Amir al-mu'minin and subjugated himself to the British. On Thursday night I dreamed that I was walking wearily thinking how Defending Madinah Suddenly I found myself in a place among unknown people who were working, then I saw an old man among them, he was the Holy Prophet, may Allah have mercy on him, he put his left hand. He put me on his back and told me in a safe way, "Come with me." I walked with him for three or four steps and then woke up.
I immediately went to the Prophet's Mosque and (near his shrine) fell down in prostration before my Lord and thanked Allah. Now I am under the protection of the Holy Prophet who is my Commander-in-Chief. I am wholeheartedly engaged in defending the buildings, roads and boundaries of Madinah. Now do not bother me with these useless offers. ”On October 30, 1918, the Ottoman Empire surrendered and the Minister of War sent a message to Fakhri Pasha that we have surrendered by agreement. Now you also surrender, but Fakhri Pasha disobeyed and refused to surrender his sword, so the Ottomans fired him, but he persevered and fought in the same way. He continued to fight the Arab rebels and Britain and its allies, and to protect Medina with his small contingent. Eventually, some of his own treacherous comrades came and captured him and handed him over to the enemy.
Thus, on February 2, 1919, Ali and Abdullah, the sons of Sharif, entered the city of Madinah and looted the city of Nabi for 12 days. Fakhruddin spent 2 years in captivity in Malta. After his release in 1921, he rejoined the Turkish forces and fought wars against Greece and the French. He later served as Turkey's ambassador to Afghanistan, suffering a heart attack on November 22, 1948, and was reunited with his real creator. He was buried in Istanbul according to his wishes. May Allah fill your grave with light. It is a pity that our generation is not familiar with his name.

Under a well thought out conspiracy we have been engaged in social media and junk movies and dramas so that we are completely unaware of these faith-inspiring deeds of our forefathers and the same eagle spirit is not created in us. After reading the stories of this general, one would wish that he had been in his place and that he would have received the same order from the Holy Prophet. Now is the time for us to resurrect our forefathers who died in the name of Allah and His Messenger. Train our children with such incidents so that the enemies of Islam may once again face Fakhruddin Pasha. May Allah be our supporter and helper.
